Mangalore, Mar 21: Artists need financial assistance as there is a dearth of patrons, said Pavanje, senior artist.

He was delivering the inaugural address at the four-day painting exhibition 'Netra Ninada,' organized by Vanya Charana Balaga at Prasad Art Gallery here on Thursday March 20.

He called upon the budding artists to not imitate any one but to learn the skills of painting individually. He was of the opinion that emerging artists must strive to develop of individuality and thereby achieve the objectivity of art.

Laxmi Kumaran, DGM, Corporate Communication, MRPL presided over the inaugural ceremony. Chaitanya Tallur, general manager of State Bank of India and Manoranjini, art teacher at Kalabharathi were the chief guests.

Various artists were present on the occasion.
