M’lore: Struggle of Anti-MSEZ Committee till De-Notification

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangalore (RD)

Mangalore, Mar 20: The struggle of Agricultural Land Conservation Committee would not cease, until and unless the government revokes the notification issued to acquire land by Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board (KIADB), as the committee has expressed doubt over the government which had set up a new committee, soon after it received the recommendations from Garg Committee that was set up, in order to advise the former on environmental issues, stated to limit the first phase of environmental clearance to Mangalore Special Economic Zone (MSEZ).  Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee suspected the mastermind of MSEZ spokesman in this regard.

The office bearers of Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee stated in their press release that their committee which was set up with genuine concern to small and micro agriculturists denied any relations with the recently floated Pro-MSEZ Progressive Agriculturists’ Welfare Committee.

The office bearers of Pro-MSEZ Progressive Agriculturists’ Welfare Committee were involved in the first meeting of Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee, who seemed to have struck a better deal for their lands in connivance with MSEZ authorities while the former stands committed to the welfare of small and tiny agriculturists’ who would loose their petty farmlands which sustained them for long.

Since then, the office bearers of Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee have not attended any meetings convened by Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee.  Anti-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee has neither convened any secret meetings nor restrained anyone who expressed willingness to sell their land.  Moreover, Anti-MSEZ Committee has urged the Deputy Commissioner to de-notify the lands of those who desired to sell their farmlands to MSEZ, stated Madhukar Amin, president of Pro-MSEZ Agricultural Land Conservation Committee, in their press release.

Anti-MSEZ Committee has not been associated with land mafia in the past which will have no agenda in this regard, stated Madhukar Amin in their press release.
