Delhi to record 42 degrees C on Wednesday


New Delhi, Apr 19 (IANS): It was a hot and sunny Wednesday morning in the national capital here with the weather office predicting the temperature to rise to 42 degrees Celsius during the day.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 25.4 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average.

The maximum temperature on Tuesday also crossed the 42 degrees mark and was recorded at 42.5 degrees Celsius, five notches above the season's average, making it the hottest day of the season so far, said an official of the India Meteorological Department.

The official added that there may be some respite from the heat in the coming days with partly cloudy skies predicted on Thursday and Friday.

"There is also a possibility of rain and dust storm on April 22 (Saturday)," the official added.

On Wednesday, the sky would remain clear throughout the day. Humidity at 8.30 a.m. was 22 per cent.

The minimum temperature on Tuesday was 24.9 degrees Celsius, three notches above the season's average.
