Udupi, Mar 18: The residents of Thenka Yermal here picketed Yermal gram panchayat on Monday March 17, alleging irregularities of local governance in various issues.

The protesters alleged that the gram panchayat has not taken any action to restore drinking water supply which has been irregular since past 15 days. Their follow-ups with the gram panchayat secretary were futile.

Hundreds of residents of Poondadu ward under Thenka Yermal gram panchayat joined in the protest and shouted slogans against the gram panchayat.

The protesters demanded taluk panchayat officers to come to the spot in order to redress their grievances. They did not heed to the pleas of Mamata Shetty, gram panchayat secretary to hand over their memorandum to her.

The protest was led by gram panchayat members Gulabi, Jayashree K Poojary and hundreds of residents.

This is the good move. people should do more protest against the irregular governess from panchayath. the matter is not related to political parties, I wish that we all people get together and fight for the betterment of our village without any party representation of political parties. Keep it up.... Jai Hind
