Udupi, Mar 13:
Traffic on National Highway 17 was badly affected after an LPG bullet tanker turned turtle at Moodabettu near Katpadi near here on Thursday March 13 morning.

Sources said that accident took place around 3.30 am owing to slippery road.  It had drizzled heavily in the small hours of Thursday March 12 which resulted in the accident, confirmed Kaup police.

Though casualties have not been reported yet, it is said that there has been leakage of gas from the ill-fated tanker. However all precautionary measures have been undertaken by the fire fighters to avert any danger. Meanwhile gas is being filtered into another tanker to reduce the risk at the spot.

Owing to this however, vehicles plying between Mangalore and city were diverted via Katpadi-Shankarpura-Salmara-Kaup or Katpadi-Shankarpura-Manchakal-Kaup road.  People going to work and student going to their schools and colleges were particularly affected owing to the tragedy.
