Mangalore: 'Karavali Ale' Editor’s House Stoned

MANGALORE, Mar 6: Anti-social elements allegedly stoned the house of B.V. Seetharam, chairman of Chitra Publications Pvt. Ltd. at Kulai, near here, early on Wednesday. The media house publishes the dailies Karavali Ale and Canara Times, among others.

Rohini S., its managing director, in a letter to Sharada Subramaniam, special secretary to the Governor, has complained about the incident and sought police protection to the press and suitable security to their residence as well.

Seetharam blamed communal forces inimical to the growth of the free press for the incident.

Complaint not filed

He has not lodged a complaint with the police saying he had no faith in them. Dakshina Kannada district unit of People’s Union for Civil Liberties has expressed concern over the incident.
