Restructure calls grow louder in Congress

New Delhi, Mar 14 (DHNS): After the poll debacle in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, there are growing demands within the Congress for a “fundamental restructuring” of the organisation to empower its “sharpest campaigners”.

Former Union minister Milind Deora fired the first salvo saying “fact-checking” Prime Minister Narendra Modi or the NDA cannot be the only strategy for the Congress which required to give an alternative narrative built on the party's strengths of “collective experience and leadership”.

Another former Union minister Anil Shastri faulted the Congress for overemphasising communalism and demonetisation as issues for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections.
This, Shastri said, was used as a tool by the BJP to polarise the electorate on communal lines.

Shastri, a special invitee to the Congress Working Committee, pointed out that former defence minister A K Antony in his analysis of the Lok Sabha poll debacle had said that the Congress was perceived to be appeasing the minorities.

“The whole world knows that the Congress is a secular party. Why do we have to harp on this again and again? Who are we trying to convince,” asked Shastri.

The resignation of AICC general secretary B K Hariprasad, accepting responsibility for the Congress loss in the panchayat elections in Odisha, is also expected to put pressure on the leadership to go in for the long-pending restructuring of the organisation.

After the Lok Sabha debacle, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi had offered to resign but this was rejected by the Congress Working Committee.

On Saturday, All India Congress Committee general secretary Digvijaya Singh had rejected suggestions that Rahul Gandhi should step down owning up responsibility for the debacle in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

There's absolutely no doubt that the grand old party, the Congress Party, has outlived it's usefulness and "use by date".

A party relying on its existence on a single family, that too, the 5th generation (i.e. Motilal Nehru onwards) can no longer claim any legitimacy. Not only is it expected to protect the rights/security of the backward classes and minorities, but also be in a position to give the best possible proactive and progressive administrative and political leadership, which the Congress Party has badly failed to provide.

Hope they see the writing on the wall and make a sincere attempt to restructure the party (minus the ruling family, which has now become a big liability to its very existence/credibility) by reviving inner-party democracy and giving the reins of leadership to young and dynamic new-generation leaders, believe in good governance, who are great orators, having dynamic thinking and plans for the fast progress of our country to the highest level in the world arena.

The restructuring and renaissance of the 'grand old party' might be a slow and painful process, in view of the inevitable stout opposition from the well-entrenched 'ruling family', but the party has no other alternative as its very survival depends upon taking some very difficult, but dramatic steps.

Congress would have never faced this day in national politics if they perceived the 'saffron terror' as per the investigation of Late Hemant Karkare.
If Congress didn't had closed door meeting with RSS leaders in exchange for not pursuing the corruption cases RSS would have been history and banned for fourth time with International terror listing.
In Karnataka politics also Congress is already is submissive mode before the 2018 election by secret pact with BJP to release NAMO founder Naresh shenoy. If this case seriously perceived by the Home ministry of Karnataka there four constituency Congress would have revived itself. Another setback for the party is Ramachandrapura Mutt bail against the disciple murder case. This would have certainly ended 'cow' politics.
In UP Congress,SP and BSP has failed because they failed to expose the BJP's three year ruling and found in unethical politics of 'Gujarat donkey'.
Congress can only do some retrospective like Capt. of Punjab giving some independent incharge to young leaders with clean image with mass appeal. Whereas seniors can act as advisories.

BJP is RSS and RSS is BJP. Congress has already lost the opportunity to hit the nail in right time.

Even though I am not a supporter of any political party, in my opinion not only Gandhis (Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka), also the whole CWC (congress working committee) consists of all these old chamchas of Gandhis namely Moily, Oscar, Ambika , Renuka, Jaffer sharif, Poojary, ahmed patel, sheela dixit, digvijay singh, salman khurshid, mani Shankar and so many other old heads must resign and give way for the younger generation like Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Manish Tiwari, etc. Because these youngsters are educated and good orators (public speakers) where as Rahul Gandhi, Sonia or Priyanka does not have these skills. Why PM Modi became successful, mainly because of his oratory skills not mainly because of any development because on this he hardly could speak. Highlighting oppositions weaknesses or mistakes, one must have a real good twisting tongue which Modi has, whereas these congress leaders always fail to pinpoint. We say Indians are educated and can't be made fools easily. But we always get fooled by these politicians words/speeches which is evident in these elections. Otherwise, if you compare the development v/s inconvenience caused by demonitisation, price hike of commodities(gas, petrol, etc), increase in bank service charges, corruption and lavish spendings on weddings of politicians children without any control by this government, if Indians had brains, I don't think they would have voted any such parties be it BJP, Congress or any other party. But unfortunately, we are failed to or don't want to realize the true facts and always getting fooled by these politicians. So, finally what I would like to say is there must be a very strong opposition to any ruling party or else, it may turn into dictatorship and there won't be any place for democracy and judiciary, bureaucrats will not have any power. So in my opinion Congress needs to restructure its leadership.

Sachidanand, The people of mangalore would want Congress, The Reasons would be far more than i could elucidate here. 1st & foremost, B.J.P was given a chance to rule in Karnataka, But , the moment they were in Power , they attacked the churches. It was a well cordinated effort , & all the churches were attacked, on the flimsy excuse that somebody had written an article , somewhere , which was no fault of ours. Then the attrocities by the police , who were asked by the Govt to attack the children & women & nuns in the church. Then the severely Flawed Judicial system , which gave a safe getaway to the perpetrators of this henious crime. Then the Moral rowdisym, attacks everywhere etc. Then the viewing in Vidhana Soudha, then the corruption everywhere, mining , denotification of land etc. One Blunder after Another & then they were routd so badly. That is why we need Congress, However the congress has goofed big time, Tippu Jayanthi, was a mammoth Blunder & old farts like Poojary should shut their bloody traps, But yeddy, Reddy , & th uneducated Kateel have brought B.J.P to their Doom.

And the recent results have proven it.

Luckily for congress the vote base is still not bad . Manipur , Goa, Punjab they have done well and this is inspite of huge money and manpower spent by BJP ...NONE CAN MATCH THE MONEY AND MUSCLE POWER OF BJP . Having said that restructing is required strong leaders like Capt , Pilot, Scindia , should be promoted to senior positions . Time for Moily, Oscar, Ambika , Renuka, Jaffer shaeerif, Poojary, ahmed patel, sheila dixit, digvijay singh, salman khurshdi, mani shankar etc to quit politics . They have absolutely no moral grounds to continue any more . People are fed up with these faces .

Congress strategy and secret has been bought by the BJP Either they will switch to BJP or some will in Congress but leak out the strategy. Money power plays a big role.

Congress do not have committed ,loyal leaders. Time and time again, Congress party has been ditched by its own leaders for their selfish end.

Even persons like S M. Krishna leaving the Congress after enjoying his life for 46 years, one can imagine the loyalty of Congress party workers. Just for the sake of few days 'feel good' attitude and then they will be discarded like late Bangarappa.

Even in Manipur, more than half of the MLA of BJP are from Congress and the nominated CM is ex Congress man.

Its too late now, the damage is done. You cannot blame Chaiwaala each and every time you hold the mike, Showing off a torn kurta , withdrawing only 2K and flying off to Europe, Come on!. People are not fools to blindly vote for 'kai'. The only way for Cong to bounce back is get rid of the 'Gandhis'. The commoners cannot identify with them. The secret unutilized weapon of the Cong called 'Priyanka Gandhi' sank without a trace and whimper. So its clear that any 'bandhans' with the Gandhi siblings will only invite defeat. Ktaka should learn a lesson and start immediately at grass root level despite being late. BJP has already started on the offensive and Siddu is unable to tackle this. With numerous controversies to his name, and lack of support he might soon be with his back against the wall just 'defending'. Even a Baazigar Jannannas Urulu seve wont help. Like someone mentioned here yesterday, Cong will just be content with RG being the Prime Minsiter of some place like Ullal.

As long as Sonia Gandhi and her son are at the helm of affairs, this party will never be able to bounce back. I don't understand why are they still clinging to power or for that matter why are the Congress MPs not asking them to make way for better brains. I refuse to believe that there are no worthy successors in this party. We have Scindia, Rajesh Pilot, Manish Tiwari who are well educated and can be expected to do a good job. Give them a chance. The mother-son duo have proved that there are a complete disaster. Now what are they waiting for? They should be shown the door without further delay lest the Congress ends up getting less than 20 seats in the next elections. We certainly want a strong opposition in this country in order to keep democracy alive.

The Congress should have used the young leaders like Mr Jyothiradithya Scindhya, Rajesh Pilot, and other leaders to the campaign by putting pressure on the BJP's campaign. While it is good to project their leader it is important to also ensure that aggressive campaigning is a tool to reach out to the masses. Mere road shows do not convert into votes. The allegation of Ms Mayawati that the EVMs need to be checked is also an important issue for ensuring free and fair elections. EVMs work on a software and the program can be diverted to the convenience of a particular candidate or party. After all, a computer has a GIGO effect, garbage in garbage out. Hope Ms Mayawati will take the issue before the SC. Let the opposition take all the five state elections to court for a review by the SC. A doubt has crept into the minds of the electorate after Ms Mayawati a former CM of UP and a responsible leader made this allegation. Either the election commission or SC should be approached by the opposition parties for a thorough probe to clear the doubts of the citizens.

    Michael,
before taking Mrs. Mayavathis allegation seriously i would like to mention one of her recent statement after election result

In her press conference, Mayawati said the BJP won the election in Muslim-dominated areas of West UP and Rohilkhand. “The Muslim voters have not supported the BJP then how come their vote has been transferred to BJP. Several Muslim community leaders expressed surprise over the massive victory of BJP candidates in their constituency,” she added.

her allegation is only based on BJP won in Muslim majority area which she was dreaming to win and some leader from community assured her to support before election.

if you take her statement on EVM tampering seriously u have to take one more thing seriously that in UP 19% voters r from Muslim comunity and how Mrs. mayavathi became CM earlier?
did she tampered Hindus and Christian votes?
