Udupi: Vain Theft Attempt at Guttu House near Hejamady

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (RD)

Udupi, Mar 4: Thieves made a failed attempt to burgle a house on Hejamady ferry road near Padubidri by opening the tile roof, when the members of the house were fast asleep on Monday March 3 night.

Though the thieves managed to enter the house by opening the roof, they seem to have lost their way inside the house since there were many rooms in this traditional Guttu house.  The house is owned by Dinesh Shetty, an employee of New Mangalore Port Trust, who was living with his wife and two children.  The thieves managed to climb to roof with the help of a ladder and then entered the house after removing the tiles.

However, Dinesh's family was quite fortunate that the room in which thieves managed to sneak in had four door which were locked from outside.  So from there they tried to entered the hall using a coir rope.  But they failed in this.

The theft attempt came to light on Tuesday March 4 morning when Dinesh woke up.  A complaint has been filed with the police in this regard.
