Mangalore, Mar 4: If anyone is of the opinion that handmade and indigenous products are of inferior quality and never outshine imported products in terms of quality, probably he needs to visit the state level exhibition on Rural Employment Generation Programme, exhibition-cum-sales of village industries products, organized by Khadi and Village Industries Commission, Bangalore at Hotel Woodlands here from Monday March 3 to Wednesday March 13.
 
Around ten and odd stalls were put up at the exhibition. Home made pickles including expensive articles like mobile pouches, vanity bags, swings and dhuries are on display. According to Manohar, marketing-in-charge of pickles, visiting the stalls at exhibition to buy indigenous products which are free of harmful chemicals and preservatives, hence buying items at the exhibition would be worth the quality and money. 

Saubagya Isha Kumar, who traveled all the way from Bangalore to Mangalore to sell leather products, such as wallets and purses, while speaking to Daijiworld correspondent, said that the no one would face unemployment if determined to work. She was of the view that marketing home made products may not yield quick money, but one can certainly make living out of selling them.

The exhibition serves as an informed choice, if any one is on the look out for products of medicinal plants. Juice made of lime and zinger is few of them. The exhibition has also something to offer to fashion conscious customers for their choicest shoes and embroidered feminine dresses. 

The exhibition also has the stalls of imitation jewellery and roasted grains and collection of khadi clothes. The initial response of the visitors was also encouraging.


Sameer Shukla, assistant commissioner of DK district, inaugurated the exhibition at a ceremony which was presided over by I Parathasarathy, general manager of Syndicate Bank, Manipal. K Mohan Raju, state director of KVIC, Bangalore delivered the key note address.
 
Praveenraj Udupa of NABARD and others were present on the occasion.
