Mangalore Feb 28: A centralized walk-in-interview and industry institution interactive meet will be held at the city's Canara Engineering College premises on Monday March 11 and Tuesday March 12, informed A Ayyakkannu, regional central apprenticeship adviser and director of training of Board of Apprenticeship Training (SR) at a press conference here on Thursday February 28.

Canara Engineering College will host the interview organized jointly with Board of Apprenticeship Training, directorate of technical education and directorate of vocational education, he added.

The programme is open to all engineering graduates, JOC candidates and diploma holders. It will be conducted on the above-mentioned days in two categories, one for graduate engineers of all branches and other for diploma holders and those doing JOC courses of all branches on the second day, Ayyakkannu added.

Candidates had been recruited and continue to be recruited at present in the traditional manner, but it has been realised that the increasing demands can effectively be met in the entralised-walk-in-interview, he added.

The apprentices of the scheme will be certified from the government and moreover the duration of the apprenticeship will be considered as experience which could help the candidates in applying for positions in the public sector.
