Seven killed, 30 injured as bus falls into canal in Andhra Pradesh


Vijayawada, Feb 28 (PTI): At least seven passengers were killed and over 30 injured when a Visakhapatnam-bound bus fell into a canal in Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh early today.

Police said the toll might go up as the front portion of the bus was mangled and many were trapped inside.

The private Volvo bus coming from Hyderabad lost control, hit a road divider and fell into the canal between two bridges.

The driver of the bus was said to be a in a drowsy condition and lost control, police said.

Deputy Chief Minister (Home) N China Rajappa has directed the Krishna district police to carry out rescue operations.

The injured passengers were rushed to hospitals in Vijayawada. Further details are awaited.

    Very sad, RIP to the deceased. Drowsy condition is another big reason for accident.
