An experimental website www.geocities.com/mngpolice/passport status.pdf initiated by the Dakshina Kannada district police helps the passport seeker to find out the status of their passport verification.

Status of the all passport applications which come under the jurisdiction of Dakhina Kannada (DK) police could be seen on the said website.  The interested applicants are advised to eye on the website, stated a press release issued by the superintendent of police of DK.

    Hello , I had applied for my parents passport about 3 months back . The initial process after submitting the details went through as expected .Police verification also was completed . The police have forwarded it to the RCC (Regional Computer Center) Mangalore . For 1 month the status on the website showed police verification not complete .

    I tried to follow up with the RCC and they said their officer is on vacation and there are '3000' passports pending !! When I called them up again after a few days they say there is no officer there as the one present was transfered and no one has replaced him . Its been a week since then and nothing is happening . And since I m in Europe and working its very difficult to follow up . My elderly parents are also tired of making daily trips to their office .

    This is a sad state of affairs in small towns where ispite of completing all the tedious work the passport is stuck at a place where the officer has to just sign n forward it to B'lore . I hope this plea will reach the concerned authorities and we all will get our passports soon . Thanks regards Nisha
