Manipal: ‘Tourism and Hospitality have Scope’

TNN

Manipal, Feb 24: Tourism and hospitality have excellent scope in the international business scenario. India can be an important player and it should utilize the opportunity at this juncture, said Prof Perry Hobson, director of International Centre of Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality Education, Southern Cross University, Australia.

Delivering a keynote address on ‘Global Hospitality Education Trends and its Impacts on Tourism’, at the ‘Hospitality Vision 2008,’ a two-day symposium, organized by the Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration, here on Friday he said international and overseas education has been experiencing a big growth rather than tourism in terms of export. “In hospitality education, India is poised for a big growth because most of the students are comfortable with English,” he said.

Prof Rajashekaran P Warrier, V-C of Manipal University, after inaugurating the symposium, said his observation was that Indian students have wide scope in the international market. He advised the students and parents to check the veracity and recognition of universities and degrees they offer before getting admission in such universities.
