Eight dead as blast hits Lahore protests


Lahore, Feb 13 (IANS): At least eight persons have been killed and dozens of others injured in a strong explosion near the Punjab provincial assembly on Monday.

The explosion took place on Mall Road when hundreds of chemists were protesting outside the Punjab assembly complex in the provincial capital of Lahore.

According to Geo News, Deputy Inspector General (Traffic) Captain Mubeen and SEnior Superintendent of Police Zahid Mehmood were among the dead.

Rescue services, including ambulances and fire tenders, have reached the spot. The injured were being shifted to Mayo Hospital and Ganga Ram Hospital.
