M'luru: St Aloysious students hold 'healthy body and mind' session at St Agnes School

Media Release

Mangaluru, Feb 11: The student of the Department of Journalism of St. Aloysius College (Autonomous) organised an hour-long session on 'Eating Disorders and Stress Management' on 10 February at St Agnes High School for the high school students.

The programme featured students talking to the girls about anorexia in general, its causes and its symptoms. The saying 'A healthy body is the new beautiful' and 'A healthy mind is a healthy body' was impressed upon the high school students.

Students were asked not to pay much attention to celebrity portrayals of body. They were also requested to take caution of their body as anorexia followed by depression has the highest death rates.

Another topic discussed with the students was depression, its causes, its effects and its symptoms. The high school students were encouraged to seek help as well as offer support to those who exhibit signs of depression.

The talk was followed by an interactive session on stress and time management where the students were highlighted on the positive and negative stress. As a part of the session, the high school students were taught a few stress relieving breathing techniques.
