Kundapur, Feb 19: A public rally was recently held in Kundapur Gandhi Maidan by the CPI (M) condemning the rise in prices for petrol and diesel.

Addressing the rally H Narasimha explained that it was a deliberate attempt by the center and the rise in prices in the international market was only a rose for the ruling parties, which were anti-people and anti-democratic.

CPI [M] district unit leader K Shanker also spoke on the occasion and said that it was like adding salt to the injury already inflicted to the poor who suffer due to the price-rise for the essentials commodities. He urged the Government to withdraw the price-hike in petroleum products.

The rally was headed by the taluk secretary Mahabala Vaderhobli, Chandra Shaker and S Laxman D.

We do not have a choice in this matter and carrying forward the losses would mean bleeding the oil companies. It is surprising that a political party which supports the Government holds such rallies regularly.

It would have been better if they had organised people against rising prices of foodstuffs, edible oils which are due to speculations in these items. While oil( Petrol etc.) price rise is not in our control the other items are definitely under our Governments control.
