Only Manmohan Singh knew the art of bathing with a raincoat on: PM Modi

NEW DELHI, Feb 8 (Agencies) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday tore into the Congress and took on predecessor Manmohan Singh who had described demonetisation as "organised loot" and "legalised plunder", saying "the art of bathing in a bathroom with a raincoat on" is known only to the former Prime Minister.

Targeting Singh in the Rajya Sabha, PM Modi said, "For the past 30-35 years, Manmohan Singh ji has been directly associated with financial decisions. There were many scams around him, but his own image remained clean. Dr Sahab is the only person who knows the art of bathing in a bathroom with a raincoat on (Bathroom me raincoat pehenke nahana sirf doctor saab jaante hain)," the PM said.

This remark led to angry protests from the Congress, who eventually walked out of the House. Members of Left, Trinamool Congress and JD(U) also staged a walkout after the reply, complaining that they were unhappy with Modi's statement and wanted to ask questions which was disallowed.

Manmohan Singh refused to react to PM Modi's remarks and said "I do not want to comment."

However, senior Congress leader and former finance minister P Chidambaram slammed Modi's remarks.

"It is unbecoming of a PM to use such language for a former PM, unbecoming for anyone to say such harsh ugly statement," Chidambaram said.

"We walked out as a mark of protest. No PM in the past made such comments about a former PM," he said.

The Prime Minister attacked the Congress for the walkout and said, "If they breach decorum, they should have courage to listen to the response as well. We have the capacity to pay in the same coin. We do so within the limits of decorum and boundaries of the Constitution."

He went on to add, "The person who held such a high post, used the words 'loot' and 'plunder' in the House. Then they (Congress) also should have thought 50 times (before using those words)."

PM Modi, in his over one-hour speech, focused his attack on Congress and other opposition parties for criticising the demonetisation decision and his push for cash-less economy. He also slammed the Congress for finding faults with lack of proper infrastructure in the country, saying by doing so, they were only presenting their "report card" of 70-year rule.

One wonders at Congress's new-found respect for the PM's chair. It would've been believable but for the fact that on the first day of last year's Winter Session, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari compared the prime minister with dictators and mass murderers, equating demonetisation with history's heinous crimes.
"Kisi shabya desh ne yeh nahi kiya; jisne kiye hain unke naam itihas mein hai, pehla Gaddafi, doosra, Mussolini, Hitler & chautha hai PM Modi," said Tiwari. Compared to this revilement, Sitaram Yechuri's 'Modi Antoinette' jibe was child's play.
It was even more amusing to see Rahul Gandhi jump into the fray to criticize Modi and defend the 'honour' of Manmohan Singh. Calling Modi's comments "shameful", the Congress vice-president said: "When a prime minister reduces himself to ridiculing his predecessor, years his senior, he hurts the dignity of the parliament and the nation." Evidently the nation and the Parliament weren't robbed of their 'dignity' when the Gandhi scion chose to tear apart an ordinance passed by Manmohan-led UPA and that too when the then PM was not in the country. It didn't qualify as "insult to PM" either because no less than the Gandhi scion had done so.
And when one recalls Rahul Gandhi's 'khoon ki dalali' (pimping or brokering) jibe at Modi over surgical strikes, Congress's hypocritical notion of "honour" and "respect for PM's chair" becomes apparent. It can alternate between being the aggressor and the victim in a manner of its own choosing. While it may denigrate the prime minister and call names it reserves the right to take the moral high ground when paid back in same coin.

A person has been called by the foreign countries economist and by the political leaders as a architect of Indian economy and also told by the top intellectuals and political leaders of the world that when they had a meeting with the same man “they just listen to him and not talk with him”, but unfortunately in his same country he has been abused by cheap and un cultured words in a respected house of the country by the leader of the house and applauded by his followers from by a man who has master mind of heinous crimes under the shadow of mussel and political power when he was headed in state (but no evidence in the court which remind me a filmy dialogue “kya koi sabooth nahein tu gunaha nahein hota hai kya”) and following the same person policies when he comes in power in main governance of the country now talking about clean and fair governance. What a pathetic situations of the world largest country of the democracy.

Aadhar, PAN, bank account for all was the initiatives of UPA govt. To curb prevailing corruption and black money. It is continuing even under Modi, which proves for any illeterate that the schemes were working and sensible.

E-procurement on defense deals, with ,a clear cut clause that, should there be any claims of bribery, or agent commission. The deal will stand cancelled with penalty. This clause was used to cancel the Augusta deal.

It was illegal to pay black money and hold black money or pay or accept bribe. Our courts are soo weak that they can not even put someone caught red handed transporting overnight million tonnes of iron ore, confiscated by lokayuktha, since last 04years, despite a mandate to clear such cases within a year.

    UPA has done its job.

With Modi failing to find lakhs of crore he himself claimed as looted. Proves he is incable or was lying. Further, Modi has done demonitization, only with eye on UP election, where he expected parties who used to garland with currency notes - will be hard hit. Unfortunately, all parties followed BJP and saved themselves with black money. Today all black money has been converted to white with the blessings of BJP and Modi.

Mr. Singh is an honorable and highly acclaimed gentleman should have refrained from his remarks in the Rajya Sabha. Obviously, PM Modi reacted to former PM Mr. Singh's remarks on the Rajya Sabha floor.

Demonetization and cashless economy eventually help India, specially future generations. When computers were introduced in 1984, internet was adapted in 1995, pessimism was high, yet it worked well for India.

It is worth to recall that in 1992, Soviet Union Rubble was floating to a volatile value of 200 to 250 per US dollar, from its value of 15 Rubles to a US dollar. This instability of then Soviet Rubble completed total disintegration of one Soviet Union, to 14 nations. India, then a Soviet ally for almost continuous 28 years sensed the danger and Mr. Singh voluntarily devalued Indian rupee twice in a month to a final value of 36 INR for a US dollar in 1992. Also, to stabilize Indian currency, India air lifted (using Air India flight) more than ton of gold as a collateral to be deposited in Bank Of England London; For a duration of one year, this gold was not from Indian reserves, but confiscated from smugglers!. British papers predicted/ laughed at India to say that this gold will not go back. But under Mr. Singh's leadership, India recalled this collateral gold in 11 months back to India. India's financial might was a (pleasant?) surprise to the world as well as to the lending institutions like IMF, World bank, etc.

After this devaluation of 1992 mainly during Congress rule, because of high corruption, black money, inflation etc; The property prices, daily living expenses, education expenses have sky rocketed. Congress party may not be serious about safeguarding the future of India's economy. Indians must seek other intelligent ruling at the center as alternative to Congress. Right now it appears that Mr. Modi is serious of fixing India's economic dilemmas...

Congress walked out of the house saying its a insult.perhaps they forgot that they had said that modi is a Hitler.
If that was OK, then this is perfectly fine.

It is probably wrong on part of Modi to pass such comments. Very sad indeed I personally think MM Singh was a man who helped Indian economy to grow and reach current state We must respect Sri MM Singh who was a honest and great Indian leader as PM

Please look at the context in which modi replied . He was replying to MMS comments regarding demonetization. MMS too didn't use his mind while blaming PM.
Intact MMS was more towards corrupt people even though he is not corrupt. Please see the difference

I think its not right to blame modi, because by his talk the whole world will know what education he has and what an undignified speech, First time since India independence we have a PM who is a feku,

Sri, I was a bakht like you but my eyes opened quickly. By the way, this chaiwala is not fit to touch the shoes of Mr. MM Singh. Many are asking why the petrol price is rising twice a month? Well he is filling coffers of Ambani's. The early we get rid of this dictator, that better it is. He is a disgrace not only to India but the whole world as he managed to dilute our excellent image to nothingness in a matter of 2 years.

PM Modi knows only "Monkey Bath", "Rain Coat Bath". He doesn't have any clue about his duties and responsibilities. No wonder he just fakes everything, far from reality. Only dumb, idiot and blind Bhakts are elated and become ecstatic with this senseless rhetoric. Vinasha Kaaluukke Viparitha Buddhi.

Vinasha kale???…. ha ha.. that begins with role number 44 @ 2014? LOL

But that saying suits well for those neck deep corrupt crooks who thrived on our economy for last 60 years. With tall claims they brought down the country to the list of poorest in the world, while accumulating trillions of dollars that cannot get over for generations.. abuse the PM day in and day out but when given response they ran away….

Well the blind loyal slaves and bootlickers don’t understand that.. they will be happy to be looted and ripped apart, but as long as they get a small share of that loot.. so funny ..
