Puttur, Feb 18: 'Meet the Press' an interactive programme between students and media persons was held at St Philomena Pre-university College auditorium here on Saturday, February 16.

Venkateshaiah, tahshildar of Puttur inaugurated the programme and graced the occasion. B Purandar Bhat, legal advisor of Puttur taluk journalists’ association was the chief guest.

Later, Megha Palettadi, reporter of Kannada daily ‘Samyukta Karnataka’ and Shamshuddin Sampya, reporter of ‘Varta Bharati’ briefed about various activities of the media and replied to various queries of students. Journalists Anish Kumar, Siddiq Neeraje, Santhosh Kumar, Rajesh Rao, Arun Uppinangady, Zainuddin, Shashidhar Rai Kutyala also participated in the meet.

About 150 students of St Philomena Pre-university College participated in the meet, which was held for the first time in Puttur.

    Indeed a nice programme.This encounter will help the budding students to instill a sense of faith in the mass media which is slowly losing its credibility in the coastal belt.Let the college conduct more such programmes in the golden jubilee year.
