Udupi: American Peter J Class Bags Baidashree Literary Award

Udupi, Feb 18: Peter J Class, an American folklore scholar has bagged Baidashree Literary Award, instituted by Sri Baidarkala Cultural Research Centre at Adi Udupi here. The award is presented once every three years.  

A humanity scholar from California State University, Peter Class arrived in India in 1967 to do extensive research in Tulu Nadu folklore. He gave a new perspective to Tulu folklore through his works. He also contributed significantly to the study of Tulu Nadu tradition of ‘Siri’ heroic icons ‘Koti Chennayya.’ 

The award will be presented to Peter Class at a ceremony to be held in the third week of February, stated a press release.
