M'lore: Mahapooja Mahotsava of Mariyamma Temple on Feb 18,19

Mangalore, Feb 17: Sri Mariyamma Devasthana, Urwa will play host to the traditional annual mahapooja mahotsava to be held here on Monday, Feb 18 and Tuesday Feb 19.
 
Earlier on Friday Feb 15, as part of the Utsav hordes of devotees thronged to the temple and participated in the auspicious 'chandika yaaga' and partook in the free meals in order to invoke the goddess blessing. 
 
Later in the programme there was a felicitation ceremony wherein entrepreneur G Shankar,  former MLA Yogish Bhat, entrepreneur Dilip Jain, journalist Mahohar Prasad, Mogaveera Yuva Sanghatane founder president M S Sanjeev Kota, Bangalore Mogaveera Sangha president Vaman Salian, Likanath Bolar DR Devi Ganesh Hosabettu were felicitated. 
 
According to the programme schedule on Feb 17 there will be a 'vasthu pooja' and 'sudarshana homa,' while on Feb 18 there will be a Sri Mariyamma Devi Prathishta 'Vardhanthi mahotasava,' kalasha prathishta pradhana homa.' Silver ayudha will be offered to Malaraya Doomavathi Daiva and other religious rituals will be held.
 
On Feb 19 there will be a 'mahapooja,' 'alankara pooja,' 'bali pooja,' 'katte bali,' 'harake kanike,' 'rathotsava thulabharam.' While the 'Nemothsava' of Sri Malaraya Dhoomavathi will be held on Feb 23, sources here inform.
