Bhopal: Man murders wife, buries body in concrete platform at home


Bhopal, Feb 3 (Agencies): In a gruesome incident in Bhopal, police recovered a body of a woman buried under a concrete structure in the city’s Govindpura area.

The 28-year-old woman, Akansha Sharma, who hailed from Bankura in West Bengal, was allegedly murdered by her husband Udyan Das, who hid the body by building a marbled platform over it.

The murder came to light when West Bengal police came to Bhopal looking for Akansha after her father had lodged a complaint in December.

According to reports, Udyan and Akansha fought often over phone calls, which the women was receiving from her former boyfriend. On December 27, the fight turned ugly and the man strangled his wife.

After the murder, Das stuffed the body in a box and poured cement on it. He, later, built a marbled platform over it, which cops had to drilled for three hours to recover the body.

The two had met on Facebook in United States and became friends. Later, the couple entered into a relationship, got married, and moved to Bhopal.

Das claimed to be an IIT-Delhi passout. His father used to work for BHEL and his mother retired as a deputy superintendent of police.
