M'bidri: Morantabettu Baba Poojary Passes Away

Moodbidri, Feb 15: Morantabettu Baba Poojary Anebettu (95), veteran leader of Billava community of Belvai village passed away on Wednesday February 13.

He was actively involved in social service and was known for his mediating skills in solving family feuds while serving as sarpanch of Gram Panchayat (GP).  He had donated land for setting up of Kariyangady Primary School.  He had also served as member of development committee of Kesarugadde ZP Higher Primary School, Swamy Muktanand High School.  He was also involved in the running and day-to-day activities of various social welfare and voluntary organization in his home town.  

Morantabettu Baba Poojary is survived by five sons including Narayan B Poojary, proprietor of Shanmukhanand auditorium, Belvai and two daughters.  Former minister Amarnath Shetty, ex-MLA Abhayachandra Jain, BJP Moodbidri block president Jagdish Adikari, ex-GP president Sundar Suvarna, ex-GP vice-president Raghu Poojary, SCDCC Bank director Bhaskar S Kotian and others have condoled his death.

    Hearty condolences to the bereaved family of Baba Poojary. Belvai has lost a great social worker. I know that his family has also donated a classroom to local Urdu school and they are regularly contributing for the development of this school.
