Won't run for Presidency: Ban Ki-moon

Seoul, Feb 1 (IANS): Former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced on Wednesday he will not run for the South Korean Presidential elections this year, a media report said.

Ban was second in the running to become the country's next President, according to polls, behind Moon Jae-in, the former leader of the main opposition Democratic Party, Efe news reported.

South Korea has been mired in a political corruption scandal known as the 'Rasputin' case, which led to the impeachment of President Park Geun-hye.
