Udupi: Pejawar Seer Worships at Krishna Temple

The Hindu

Udupi Feb 14: Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math worshipped Lord Krishna at the sanctum sanctorum of the Sri Krishna Math/Temple here on Wednesday.

The worshipping of Lord Krishna by the Pejawar seer is significant as it comes after a compromise was reached between the seers of the Ashta Maths recently. Other seers who worshipped Lord Krishna on Wednesday included Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Paryaya Puttige Math, Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of Kaniyur Math and Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Math.

After the Puttige seer’s ascension to the Paryaya Peetha, there was a crisis on the issue of “Krishna Puja”. The Pejawar seer was forthcoming in his support to the Puttige seer on the issue.

But the remaining five seers said that they would support the Puttige seer as long as he did not touch the idol of Lord Krishna.
