Udupi: NH Bundh at Padubidri Delayed Due to Lack of Supporters

Udupi, Feb 13: National Highway 17 bundh called by Bajrang Dal and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) on Tuesday, February 12 was delayed owing to the shortage of protestors.

The bundh was scheduled to start at 8 am on Tuesday. The bundh was called to protest against the apathy of police department in nabbing the miscreants who attacked Prakash Shetty, a local Sangh Parivar leader at Padubidri.

Speaking on the occasion, Praveen Shetty alleged that Praveen Naik, Kaup circle inspector has not taken any initiative to arrest the miscreants, although 100 days have passed since the attack, he alleged.

Meanwhile, Yermal Sheela Shetty alleged that the police are deliberately delaying justice for Hindus.

The Bundh was called off after 40 minutes of uproar of protesters, with the assurances of SP Devjyoti Roy that he would recommend CoD probe in this case. 

Former MLA Lalaji Mendon, zilla panchayat member Shashikant Padubidri, Vijay Karkera Kaup, Mitun Hegde and others participated in this bundh.
