Mangalore: City Seafarers' Centre Inaugurated at Derebail

Mangalore, Feb 11: Mangalore Seafarers' Centre was inaugurated here at Derebail on Sunday, February 10, by Fr Canon Bill Christianson, announced Fr Osmand N Shiri at the press conference on Monday February 11.

The centre was set up keeping the sailors fraternity in mind, as the seamen who are bound to be working away from their families for months together likely to undergo both mental and physical trauma in some stage of their life. The chief objective of establishing the centre was to take care of spiritual and welfare of all seafarers regardless of nationality or faith, he added.

Capt John Prasad Menezes, former president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industries and others were present at the inaugural function.
