Mangalore, Feb 4: Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) announced the launching of its first long term unit linked health insurance product ‘Health Plus’ on Monday February 4. An announcement in this regard was made by stated Surendra Behra, senior divisional manager of LIC Udupi division, here on Monday at a press conference.
The plan covers the entire family (husband, wife and children), hospital cash benefit and major surgical benefit along with a Unit Linked Insurance Product (ULIP) component designed to meet domiciliary treatment related expenses for the insured members, he briefed.
The plan features that the principal insured can withdraw an amount of equivalent to the actual expenses, that he or she has incurred in respect of any domiciliary treatment for himself or for the others insured under the policy subject to the cash value in his account, he added.
Hospital cash benefit is a daily benefit payable in cash for hospitalization and the minimum and maximum amount can range between Rs 250 to Rs 2,500 for the principal insured and the maximum amount for spouse or child is Rs 1,500. In case of hospitalization in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) the amount payable is double the eligible cash benefit. If the insured undergoes any major operation as described in the plan a lump sum benefit will be payable, he detailed.
