Mangalore: Students Boycott Classes

Mangalore, Feb 3: Students of various colleges boycotted the classes on Friday as per the call given by Mangalore University All College Students Union. 

The protest was called against the carry-over system in semester. According to the Union, as per the Regulation 15 of Mangalore University Semester System, no candidate shall be permitted to take the fifth semester examination unless the student passes all the papers of the first semester examination and no candidate will be permitted to take the sixth semester examination unless they pass all the papers of the first and second semester examination. 

The Union members later went to Mangalore University and protested against the carry-over system. 

Speaking to The Sunday Times of India, Union president Krishnadas Kamath said the vice-chancellor has assured the Union to solve the problem. Vice-chancellor has said that a meeting will be convened to solve this within a week, he added.
