Udupi, Jan 31:
A function was organized on the occasion of the foundation stone laying ceremony for developmental works at the APMC (Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee) yard here on Wednesday Jan 30.

Manorama Madhwaraj, Udupi MP laid the foundation stone for the new drainage system and shops here.
Speaking on the occasion Dr V S Acharya, MLC and former minister informed "The formalities to lease out Brahmavar Cooperative Sugar factory are in the final stages and the factory will be handed over to a private party soon. Talks at the government level are in progress, and the lease can be signed any time."

In view of the private leasing of the Brahmavar Sugar factory and its revival it is better that marketing organizations like Udupi APMC come together with the factory for its development, opined Acharya.
Moreover, Acharya wanted discussions and deliberations to be carried out between the authorities, APMCs and farmers, to implement it so that end users can reap the benefits.

Manorama Madhwaraj speaking here said sustaining quality should be the hallmark, which both APMC officials and agricultural producers should bear in mind for their business activities.

Udupi APMC president Vijayakumar Udyavara presided over the function. Former MP Vinay Sorake and former MLA K Raghupati Bhat spoke on the occasion.
