Mangalore: Santha Kumar Gets Presidential Award of Appreciation

Mangalore, Jan 31: Santha Kumar superintendent of central excise working in city central excise commissionerate was awarded the prestigious ‘Presidential Award of Appreciation Certificate’ for specially distinguished record of service recently.

He joined the department in the year 1992 as inspector. The officer with exposure of working in field formation such as range preventive unit etc has a flair for anti-evasion, preventive work. He has also served the directorate general of central excise intelligence (DGCEI), Bangalore the premier organisations engaged in anti-evasion work in the country, as an intelligence officer with excellent performance.

Kumar has to his credit a detection of 74 evasion cases of central excise duty, service tax involving duty, tax to the tune of Rs 138.10 crore based on his own intelligence and out of the above detection, an amount of Rs 37.83 crore has been realized.

    Is India short of many more sincere officer's like Santha Kumar? not really would be my answer! Congratulations! Mr. Santha. People like you can definitely change things for the better and your work should be a message to your juniors and sub-ordinates to choose the path of sincerity and a warning for culprits who evade tax.
