Udupi: BJP Accuses Mescom of Helping Nagarjuna

Udupi, Jan 30: The local BJP Yuva Morcha unit of Kaup and leaders of local colleges, picketed the office of Mangalore electricity supply company (Mescom), on Tuesday, January 29, protesting against the frequent power-cuts in the jurisdiction of Kaup legislative assembly constituency. Mescom has been disconnecting power supply for 8 – 10 hours daily, they complained.

MP Manorama Madhwaraj addressing the protesters said that there are allegations that Mescom has been resorting to indefinite power-cuts in the neighbourhood where Nagarjuna Power Corporation has proposed to set up thermal power plant, with a conspiracy to gather support from locals. Moreover, she cautioned that if the unjustified load-shedding continues, they would hold aggravated protest since the power-cut has been affecting students, agriculturists, small entrepreneurs and others. 

Lalaji R Mendon, former MLA, Ravindra Shetty, president of Kaup BJP, Giridar Prabhu, president of Kaup Yuva Morcha, Divakar Shetty, secretary, Jagdish Acharya, Navin Amin, Arun Shetty, Ramesh Hegde, Nita Gururaj, Jayanti Indushekar, taluk panchayat members, Katpady Shankar Poojary, BJP district president, Prashant Shetty, student union leader of MSRS College, Pratviraj Hegde, student union leader of St Mary’s College and Praveen, student union leader of Government First Grade College, were present on the occasion.
