Mangalore: State-level Cross-country Championship Begins

Mangalore, Jan 28:
The 41st Karnataka State Cross-country Championship for this year was flagged off in the city here on Sunday January 27. The championship is being organized by the Dakshina Kannada Athletic Association under the able leadership of its president Manjunath Bhandary, jointly with the department of youth services and sports, Sports Authority of Karnataka and Karavali Utsav.  

The championship began on schedule at 6 am on Sunday from six different places of the states simultaneously. At the inaugural ceremony the KPTCL managing director Bharatlal Meena and IGP (western range) A M Prasad were the chief guests.  Amarkumar Pandey of the department of youth services and sports was the guest of honour on the occasion.

Among the dignitaries who participated in the event were the deputy commissioner M Maheshwar and superintendent of police Satheesh Kumar. Around 2,000 athletes are competiting in the championship.
