Bargain hunting buoys equity market


Mumbai, Dec 27 (IANS): Short covering, along with bargain hunting buoyed the Indian equity markets during the morning trade session on Tuesday.

The wider 51-scrip Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 30.30 points or 0.38 per cent to 7,938.55 points.

The barometer 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE, which opened at 25,815.43 points, traded at 25,909.31 points (around 10.20 a.m.) - up 102.21 points or 0.40 per cent from the previous close at 25,807.10 points.

The Sensex has so far touched a high of 25,911.10 points and a low of 25,803.19 points during the intra-day trade.

The BSE market breadth was skewed in favour of the bulls with 1,069 advances and 807 declines.
