Mangalore, Jan 27: The Karnataka State BJP Fishermen Vedike (KSBFV) has made an offer of total support to the Moghaveera Virat Convention (MVC) to  be held on February 3, 2008 at Kundapur informed Ramachandar Baikampady, the convener of MVC here at a press conference held on Saturday, January 26.

Terming the convention as secular, he called upon all fishermen to avail the benefits offered by the Convention,  in all possible ways by keeping aside differences of opinion.

According to Baikampady till date all agitations lauched by the fishermen have received a lukewarm response. Being more concerned about the danger to sea life, he lamented that marine balance is being disturbed due to the influx of harmful raw and industrial wastes flowing into the sea.

This is mainly responsible for destroying marine wealth. Hence in view of this matter, the convention gains significance, he opined. And hoped that the convention would be a forum to air the grievences of the fishermen, if any.

Revathi Putran and Shakuntala Bengre corporators were present at the press conference.
