Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (GA)

Mangalore, Jan 26: Though former minister Blasius D'Souza was ailing for long, his death has come as a big shock to most beginning from his family members to his political associates. He has left a legacy of clean and mature politics behind.  Throughout his political careers he had maintained a clean image despite having adorned positions such as minister and Mangalore city council president.

His close political associates both within the party and even from opposition party will always accept that he was indeed a man of integrity and great acumen. One of his very close associates for long M Veerappa Moily surely knows him much better than anyone else.  It was when Veerappa Moily was the chief minister that Blasius served as labour minister and rendered yeoman's service to the state.

Recalling these days Veerappa Moily while speaking to Daijiworld over the phone said that Blasius was an outstanding leader who could be matched by none. "He was a man of virtues and true leader who would always lead by example.

He is the one who rose to high positions from the root level.  He began his journey as Municipal council member and later climbed the ladder of success mainly because of his simplicity and vision.  He had a perfect dream for the city of Mangalore and he could easily be called one of the architects of Mangalore city," he added.

Indeed a very touching tribute from Sri Veerappa Moily former Chief Minister of Karnataka. Blasius was a wonderful orator ,a veteran Congressman , a seasoned administrator, a perfectionist to the core, a true Gandhian in ideology hailing from a devout and renowned family of Mangalore who deeply imbibed the lofty ideals and principles of nobility and statesmanship.

His contribution to Mangalore as a councillor, legislator,Cabinet Minister and MLC will surely be remembered by the citizens of Mangalore for many years to come and His memory will ever remain in our hearts. May his Dear Departed Soul Rest in Eternal Peace.
