Trump taps retired general, Fox analyst for senior posts

Washington, Dec 16 (IANS): US President-elect Donald Trump has added retired General Keith Kellogg and Fox News analyst Monica Crowley to his national security team.

Kellogg was on Thursday named Chief of Staff of the National Security Council (NSC). Crowley would serve as senior director of strategic communications for the NSC, Xinhua news agency cited Trump's transition team as saying.

Both would report to National Security Adviser Michael Flynn, also a retired general.

"The US is an exceptional country and these are two exceptional individuals who have agreed to fulfil the President-elect's pledge of putting America first once again," Flynn said.

Kellogg served more than 35 years in the US Army and after his retirement in 2003, he was Chief Operations Officer for the Coalition Provisional Authority in Iraq.

Crowley is a columnist for several US newspapers and an analyst on Fox News. She is also a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
