Embrace digital economy as a way of life: PM Modi appeals to nation

New Delhi, Dec 16 (Zee News): Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the nation to embrace digital payment methods to ensure rooting out of corruption and black money for the country.

Briefing the media about PM Modi's speech at the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting, Parliamentary Affairs Ministers Ananth Kumar said that Prime Minister has said that a digital economy will be more effective and transparent and will provide that the rights of poor are protected and the middle class gets freedom from the twin bane of corruption and black money.

The Prime Minister also asked BJP MPs to go to their respective constituencies and spread the word on the benefits of a cash less economy and reasons that forced the government to go for a tough measure like demonetisation.

Quoting PM Modi, Kumar said, “Earlier the government used to commit scams and the opposition used to oppose it. Now the NDA has started a mission to eradicate black money and the Opposition is opposing it.”

“For the NDA, the nation is bigger than the party, but for the Congress, the party is always ahead of the nation,” the PM said.

The winter session of Parliament which began on November 16 is set to be washed away over Opposition's protests over government's November 8 demonetisation move. Today is the last day of the session.

Both sides have been claiming that it's the other side that is not allowing a debate in the Parliament.

Opposition to meet President Pranab Mukherjee

Opposition parties led by Congress will meet President Pranab Mukherjee at 12:30 PM today to apprise him of problems caused by demonetisation, and also on them "not being" allowed to speak in Parliament.

Opposition leaders will first assemble near the Gandhi statue in Parliamen and then proceed towards Raisina Hill.

The leaders have been asserting that they had every right to speak in Parliament and it was "unconstitutional" not to allow them to speak in both Houses.

There is nothing said about the massive unemployment-poverty etc, but to make India as a cashless society is the primary goal. The nation is led into recession, thus a cashless society can be reached very fast.

PM you have done damage to your people especially the middle class and lower cast. You have never taken these people into consideration. What is wrong in using cash? You failed to actually get the black money holders caught and punished. You have allowed them to do the needful in advance and now to make up the loss in bank loans, you caught hold of simple hard working people to starve. Many died and how many more you want? Stop all this if you love the people of this country and become a serving person to all.

Talk is cheap.Majority f Indians do not have money in the banks. Having a bank account does not guarantee money in it nor access to credit cards which need money in the bank as collateral nor debit cards with no money in the account. So, how can a cashless economy exist? Let us not put cart before the horse.

    Dear P M,
first put perfect foundation to enhance digital cashless nation, it takes many years of effort & not adhoc or knee jerk actions from the government like we have seen since Nov.8th.

The senseless actions & in-actions have ruined the booming economy, putting the life of most Indians into hardship & suffering.

If you still want to save your face just don't announce anything but print adequate amount of currency & let ATMs function 24x7 as they used to.

By digging a mountain a mouse is not worth trying. Hope good sense will prevail even after Dec 30th.

I had to pay property tax for my second apartment in Vasai Virar Municipality, but no facility there for online payment. No debit/credit card is accepted, but only cash. This Municipality budget is 8 times the budget of MCC and if this is the case, can I expect digital economy from our ordinary citizens and business men ? I think our govt is dreaming of wonderland, same like an aristocrat without clothes.

Modi has devided nation into fools and inlelligent. Fools are common people like us who pay tax ,struggle for a living and are forced to show accountability for a decent living.Intelligent are those who still use fresh new currency for all the wealth they accumulate and for corruption, winning elections and have a lavish life without any accountability.Time to prove dear citizens who the real fool is and who the real intelligent is?

What nonsense this Brainless Janata Party PM is saying. 58% of Indian wealth is in the hands of 1% and indians of 60% who are labourers and farmers should accept digital economy. What happened on 8th Nov., he said demonetisation to catch corrupted, black money and fake notes is all gone for a sixer and now digital economy. First provide full financial security to the labourers and farmers who constitute 60% of Indian population before you state digital economy. You have proved to be a true educated PM.
