Mangalore: Bicycles Distributed to Students of Pompei PU College

Mangalore, Jan 22: Bicycles were distributed to 38 high school students of Pompei PU College, Aikala near here.

Under the government guidelines, bicycles are distributed to high school students who live below the poverty line. The scheme has helped hundreds of students, especially those in rural areas, to reach school on time and get back home safely. This has also boosted attendance in schools.

Fr Charles Noronha, director of the school, Fr Jerome D'Souza, principal, Umavathi, Kinnigoli panchayat president, William Cardoza, vice-president of panchayat, Santhan D'Souza, panchayat member and parents of the children were present on the occassion.
