Tell people to embrace cashless economy, Modi to BJP MPs

New Delhi, Dec 7 (IANS): Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday asked BJP MPs to campaign against black money and encourage people to embrace a digital and cashless economy.

"The Prime Minister thanked people for their support to demonetisation and asked the MPs to encourage them to go for cashless economy," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar said.

"He (Modi) said the way people are informed about EVMs during eletions, a similar approach should be adopted for encouraging people to go for digital and cashless economy," Kumar said.

Kumar said the BJP Parliamentary Party passed a resolution hailing people for supporting the demonetisation of 500 and 1,000 rupee notes that has caused a widespread cash crunch.

Another resolution was passed to ensure smooth functioning of both houses of Parliament.
