M'lore: History of Tulu Nadu traced to its 'Paddanas'

Mangalore, Jan 20: The books authored by K Keshava Bangera, will always be the original source of Tulu culture as they feature the 'Paddanas', a genre of Tulu folk, informed K Chinnappa Gowda a faculty member of the department of Kannada, Mangalore University here at  the Tulu Chavadi on Saturday, January 19.

Gowda was speaking after releasing the book entitled 'Tulunada Karnika Daivolu', which is authored by K Keshava Bangera. In the course of his speech he opined "The study of history of any region is based on two concepts, one being political and the other cultural. 
 
The study of history of any region will never be complete without the study of the populace of the region. Moreover, in the Tulu Nadu the history of its people can be very well understood with the help of its 'Paddanas', he informed.
 
The works authored by him is indeed outstanding as it features cultural terminology.  Moreover his effort in giving this cultural terminology must be appreciated as giving it is not an easy task, he added.
 
Vamana Nandavara a famous writer released the other book authored by Keshava Banera entitled  'Panolibailu Kshetra Parichaya' on the occasion. Hari Krishna Punarurur, former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat  spoke on the occasion.
 
Seetaram Kulal, president of the Tulu Academy chaired the meet, while the programme was compered by Muddu Muddubelle a former member of the Academy.
 
Dr Palthady Ramakrishna Achar a scholar in folklore also graced the occasion with his august presence.
