Margao Jan 19: A pendal which was erected to celebrate the feast of "Saver of the World chapel' at Loutulim, 12 kilometres away from here, caught fire on Thursday evening resulting huge loss. As of now, the loss has been estimated at Rs 3 lac.
According to police one person had put fire to clean the nearby area of pendal from where a spark flew towards the pendal resulting in tragedy.
Chairs and other articles which were inside the pendal were gutted.
Fire brigade officials were contacted soon and upon their arrival fire was doused. However, by then much of the damage had been done.
Police have registered a case in this regard and are investigating the case.
