Mangalore: Light Music Training Camp Inaugurated

Mangalore, Jan 19: A light music training camp was inaugurated to select deserving candidates for the upcoming 6th state level light music convention "Geetotsava," to be held on February 16 and 17 in the city at Nehru Maidan.
 
Around 100 candidates have already enrolled their names under two categories, all below 14 years of age and above.  
The main objective behind conducting both the training camp as well as the state level convention is to promote light music and also to encourage budding musical talents in light music. Similar training camps have also been organized at Udupi and Kasargod, the organizers revealed while speaking to daijiworld.

Maheshwara Rao, the deputy commissioner of DK district delivered the inaugural address. BK Sumitra, a famous singer, Dundiraj a humorist and others spoke on the occasion.
 
ND Shetty, chief secretary of the 'Geetotsava' convention compered the programme.
