Udupi: Albert W D'Souza Honoured in his Native Pangla

Udupi, Jan 16: " Mother, Mother tongue, Mother land and the Guru (teacher) are the four important things in the life of an individual and he or she should pay dues to them" said  Albert W D'Souza, renowned entrepreneur of Mumbai. Albert was replying to the felicitation from his home parish Pangala (Shankerpura) on Sunday January 6, on the occasion of  his appointment to the august body of Catholic Council of India (CCI) recently by Cardinal Telespore P Toppo, Archbishop of Ranchi and the President of CBCI as well as CCI. Albert is one among the 20 members nominated from all over India to the General Body of the CCI considering his contributions to the society and the Church in India.

Fr Harold C D'Souza, parish priest, Pangala parish, hailed Albert's contributions to the society at large, to the Church in India, home parish and schools. Fr Harold said that Albert has taken the name 'Pangla' to greater heights and he wished him success in all his endeavors.

Assistant parish priest Fr Praveen Leo Lasrado and Elvina Albert D'Souza were present on the occasion.
John Lobo, vice president, Parish Council, welcomed the gathering and compered the programme. Dr Edward Lobo, secretary, read the citation and proposed the vote of thanks.

It may be recalled here that the late Pope John Paul II had granted a special audience to Albert in Vatican in the year 2004 and felicitated him for his contributions to the church and society. In that year Albert had participated in the '’World Entrepreneurs Meet' held in Rome and he was the youngest participant of the meet.

Albert is the Managing Director of the Mumbai-based Printania Offset Pvt. Ltd., the reputed printing firm and he serves as the Chairman of the Model Co-operative Bank Ltd, Mumbai.
