Mangalore: Fishco Fest to commence on Jan 17

Mangalore, Jan 16: College of Fisheries dean Dr Y Basavaraju informed that Fishco Festival 2008, the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district level inter-collegiate literary, cultural and fine arts competitions will be organized from Thursday Jan 17 to Saturday Jan 19.
 
Addressing a press meet here on Tuesday, Jan 15 he said Alva's Education Foundation chairman Dr M Mohan Alva will inaugurate the programme, while Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Science University Board of Management member R P Kotekar and Pilikula Nisargadhama executive director J R Lobo will be the chief guests , while College of Fisheries professor and campus head Dr P Keshavnath wil be the guest of honour.
 
As part of the three-day festivities, team from more than 25 colleges will participate in various cultural and literary events. There would be events like dumb charades, clay modelling, quiz, group dance, English and Kannada extempore, painting, debate, group song and other variety entertainment programmes.
 
On Saturday Jan 19, at the valedictory function, the address for the same will be delivered by the deputy commissioner M Maheshwar Rao. On this day the chief guests will be NITK (Suratkal) director Dr Sandeep Sancheti, MRPL, MD R Rajamani and Corporation Bank DGM K V Raghav Kamath.
 
Also present at the press meet were college students welfare assistant director Jyothidham Prakash, chief staff advisor Dr S M Shivaprakash and student president Omkar V Byadgi.
