Mangalore, Jan 15: A unique workshop on literary translations will be jointly organized by the Konkani Institute of St Aloysius College and the Konkani Writers’ Forum in the audio-visual room of St Aloysius Degree College here on Sunday January 20, a press release stated.

The workshop will engage the participants in various exercises involving translations from English into Konkani, Konkani into English and also Kannada into Konkani and vice-versa. Sophisticated audio-visual aids will be used to make these presentations.

In the press release, organizers Rtn Edwin J F D’Souza, executive director, Konkani institute and Dr Edward L Nazareth, president of the Konkani Writers’ Forum said that the aim of the workshop is two-pronged.

It intends to widen the creative horizons of Konkani writers and readers and also aims to initiate the propensity of Konkani writers and readers to acquaint themselves with literature other than Konkani in order to bring Konkani literature at par with literatures in English and Kannada and possibly Hindi also.
