Kundapur: Meet Only Girl to Write Letter in Konkani at UPU Competition

Kundapur, Jan 14: The 37th UPU letter writing competition, 2008 was held at the head post office Udupi recently.

Namitha Pais was the only girl to write in Konkani a letter on the subject ‘Why the World Needs Tolerance’. There were 15 children of the age group of 15 and except the one from 6th standard the rest wrote their letters in English.

The best entry at the national-level shall qualify as the official Indian entry for the international-level competition. The first, the second and the third prizes are gold medal, the silver medal and the bronze medal respectively each with an album of UPU official postage stamps.

The prizes at the national-level for the first, the second and the third prizes are Rs 3000, Rs 2000 and Rs 1000 respectively with a certificate where as the consolation prizes Rs 250 each with a certificate to the best entry from each postal circle to will be given.
