Notes ban a big decision - Entire country is welcoming the move : Jaitley

NEW DELHI, Nov 22 (Agencies) : Over the next few weeks, the centre will focus on getting new currency to rural areas to support the agricultural sector during the sowing season, finance minister Arun Jaitley said today.

The minister was addressing party workers after a BJP Parliamentary party meet where a resolution was passed supporting the government's decision to scrap high denomination notes , that is Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes.

"For the next few weeks we are planning to focus on the agricultural sector, the Rabi season is also coming," FM Arun Jaitley said, adding that general commerce might still suffer "for a few days".

The finance minister also took the opportunity to describe post-demonetization India as the "new normal".

"By stopping the 'normal' of the last 70 years, PM Modi has created a new 'normal' " Jaitley said.

The minister was, of course, referring to PM Modi's stated aim to kill off black money and funding for terrorists by scrapping high denomination currency.

Referring to criticism of the move by almost all the opposition parties, Jaitley said he wanted to reiterate that the government is ready to discuss the demonetization. He didn't elaborate on what such discussions could lead to, considering the Centre sprung demonetization on the country overnight without any discussions.

Jaitley also took a moment to obliquely ridicule accusations that more people than the Centre claims knew about the move, were aware of it.
"Some people say even the finance minister did not know of this move, and then the same people say the party knew beforehand," the finance minister joked.

The finance minister further said demonetisation "is a historic step" which will be hailed "as a good decision", 20 years from now.

"The notes ban was a big decision, it required immense amount of courage for government to do so... it's a historic step, the entire country is welcoming the move," Jaitley said.

Demonetization will benefit the digital economy as well as the rural sector which will see a rise in investments, Jaitley forecast.

Black money is not only a stock of large quantity kept in safe custody and brought out for unaccounted sales and purchase such as real estate business etc. The tax evaded every rupee even it is of small quantity is accounted towards black money and this also has a equal share to create the parallel economic system along with tax paid white money... so how long it can be allowed to run with the accounted money. The market price of unbalance sale of commodities, sky level real estate business etc. is because of this black money, Then how it can be taxed or brought under the legal form of accounted money?
Voluntary disclosing of black money may be one option, but even after this, the unaccounted stock doesn't come out for fair taxation, then the people opposing this demonetization should also propose the alternative methods of legalizing of this unaccounted money...

The logic is very simple . Out of the 14.3 lak currency from the 500 and 1000 rupee notes govt is expecting 12 lak crore back as deposits or exchange. This 12 lak crore is entirely peoples money and none can take any decision on this . The remaining 2 lak crore is something which the RBI can decide what to do. Again 2 lak crore you have incurred a huge expenidture and losses across organisations like toll losses, demonontisation costs, etc which i think would be around the same amount and will be in the range of 2 lak crore. In that case immediate benefits are nil there may be long term benefits but we have to wait and watch. The 2 lak crore or anything which is actually remaining should be depsoited in jan dhan account !!so that coomn man is happy for all the pain atleast some gain

This is nothing but hardship for comman man. Why govt. is only focused on currency coversion which is comman man's only daily money transaction. If the govt. is genuinely interested in curbing black money it should go after people's entire assets movable and immovable and assess against the earnings. Most of the black money holders are right in front of the govt. but they are turning a blind eye. Govt. can easily do this from the tax filed against visible assets/property vs income. Now this Rs 2000 denomination is very convenient tool for black money holders and terrorists. The whole excercise is a Big Blunder. This will only encourage more Corruption. Nothing has changed only become Worse.

Decision is of course good decision with a strategic intent but operationally I'll equipped to meet the cash needs of vast Majoity of people whose daily activities center around cash transactions. The GDP to cash ratio of Japan is 20% in some western countries like Sweden it is less than 5% but Japan despite high cash based economy is one of the least corrupt country .To eradicate corr what we need is change in mindset and culture not changing notes for the sake of votes. After all black money in the form of cash is just 10% remaining is stashed in tax heaven countries in the form of dollars bullion stocks and realities.

Only lies from Arun Jhootlie of Benami Jhoota Party(BJP)
Low IQ bhakts are thumping their chests and saying how black money will be stopped forever.Nonsense!
Once the new notes are in circulation, black money will build up again.only  fools will believe every word from their master.
Notes were banned earlier in the 70s also when 1000 and 10000 rupee notes were banned.
So after that how did black money come again?

Even bhakts are facing problems with note ban but they dont want to admit it because of their bhaktigiri.
Man who promised 15 lakhs is now making the common man deposit his money in banks so that the banks can be saved from their bad loans.Raghuram Rajan tried to punish the banks for the bad loans and he was kicked out and replaced by very own gujju bhai.

it has to be uted like that only. if a day was given relaxed, whole black money ( which was found in river water, burnt, found in garbage) would have been converted. So, it could be d only in the mid night as Modi/Govt did. Many question like

    1. Why not debated in cabinet: definitely the news would have been leaked and all black money holders would have alerted
    2. Why enough cash was not pushed to banks : This also would have sensed by bank employees and would have triggered a panic situation
    3. Why panic in public : It's absolutely not required. Panic was artificially created by those parties which wanted to oppose it. Common people were ok, managing their day to day life.
    4. Bank people had to struggle working for many days : It's how it is. During such initiatives they had. It's like during election , teachers suffer to some extreme. same way. but many bank employees were telling they are happy to be a part of the change which was pro nation.

so, all these reasons are simple called out the folks who want to oppose it and let this wonderful initiative is not succeeded.

We have been standing in queue since our childhhod. When we were in higher primary school my mother used to send me and my sister to stand in queue to get ikg rice each.Only poor people were there. This was mainly because free transportation of rice was not allowed from rice bowls like Shimoga and other rice growing districts in Karnataka.Kerala people suffered more as it was sold on black market at a cost 3 times the average price.people virtually used weep. This situation was created so that the politicians could make money by taking bribe from trucks owners at the gate. Sim ilarly we always spent time waiting in queue to pay electricity and water bills,at govt hospitals, cinema tickets, radio license, bus stand, railway stations etc etc.endless.But when people don't mind standing in queue for the sake of eliminating the black money menace from the country as their service to the nation, why some people feel it is improper with sudden unheard (never ever seen) love & affection for common man or poor people for whom nobody cared or ignored till date?Everybody knows the real reason for agitation by a very very small number of people.
