Mamata, Kejriwal demand roll-back of demonetisation within 3 days

New Dlhi, Nov 17 (Agencies) : Mamata Banerjee and Arvind Kejriwal denounced the Narendra Modi-led Centre in fiery speeches at a protest rally in Azadpur Mandi, Delhi on Thursday. Both leaders targeted the government for its decision to withdraw currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1000 from circulation. They threatened to intensify their agitation if the government did not roll-back its decision to discontinue old currency notes in three days.

Daring the government to send those protesting against the move to jail, Banerjee said the fight will continue till the move was scrapped. “If you have courage, send us to jail or shoot us…But we will continue fighting,” she said. Accusing the government of trying to sell the country, Banerjee called the prevailing situation worse than the 1975 emergency. “They want to sell this country. They are trying to break the constitution. We cannot allow that,” the TMC chief said at the rally.

Kejriwal, speaking after Banerjee, took on Prime Minister Narendra Modi directly and accused him of helping liquor baron Vijay Mallya flee the country. He said while common people are standing in queues outside banks and ATMs, Mallya was enjoying in London.

The Delhi chief minister also assailed the government over the number of deaths of people while trying to exchange old currency notes. “Marriages are being broken and people are killing themselves…Who is responsible for their deaths?” Kejriwal thundered into the microphone.

On Wednesday, Banerjee had led a rainbow delegation of opposition party leaders to Rashtrapati Bhavan in protest against the demonetisation move. She submitted a memorandum to President Pranaba Mukherjee and sought his intervention on the issue. TMC MPs will move an adjournment motion in the House on Thursday, Banerjee said. Kejriwal, however, skipped the protest march as he did not want to be seen with the Shiv Sena, sources told The Indian Express. Kejriwal did send his representative, with suspended Punjab MP Bhagwant Mann joining the march.

Whoever become politician or prime minister they should fight against corruption, black money, terrorism but need to take proper measures. So far AAP has clean image no corruption, clean administration in Delhi, clean political funding through bank and they have wide vision. AAP is not against for this step which have taken by Narenra Modi that is the reason Kejriwal didn't comment for two days. But when he saw public was suffering and politicians are enjoying then he started to fight against this move.

We need to explore the roots of generation and sources of black money. Our politicians and ruling class , for their own benefits ,have painted the picture that it is the business man or the industrialist who creates black money.

To my belief in last decade or so most of the business houses have ploughed back the money generated ,without payment of Taxes back, into their businesses using ways and means economy or government has allowed them.

How may of us think that our politicians and beaurocrats are clean and without any money other then legitimate sources of income ? If they have such money it is not at all possible for.them to bring it back so this money will ever remain there only and can never come back.

What a speech by Mamta Banerjee and Mr. Arvind Kejriwal!!

AK - I can die for this country.
MB - Send us to jail or shoot us. But we will continue fighting

    wow!!! Love you guys!!

I feel that it was a good decision with good intention (doesn't matter about the controversies around) but very poorly uted. There are so many factors should have been taken into consideration before taking this decision because of that common people are suffering but it's not like that way media is showing as if everything is over because of this decision. Today there are many people walks 10 kms at places to fetch drinking water. Children regularly walk many KMs to go to school in the village. Electricity is a rarity. No shop in 5 kms vicinity. One bus every six hours. No water in summer although next to one of the biggest dams in the state. The media never goes to these villages to capture their day to day life. So evaluate their reports before reacting.

Yesterday I saw that the great Rajdeep Sardesai was roaming around Market to show that common people are suffering whereas other than one Chole-Bature wala everyone is fine with the step even though they are struggling. Then I saw 33 people died because of demonetisation reason and one of them a 24 years old girl unable to withdraw money for 2 days then committed suicide. What nonsense!! I can see that most of the people welcomed the decision despite they are suffering but unfortunately because of few politicians it took a dirty turn.

    - Mamta Banerjee's protest shows where she is up to, it's nothing secret without Money you cannot run politics in West bengal so it's normal she lost her mind.
    - Rahul Gandhi shouting because he is in opposition leader and need to shout.
    - I have nothing to say about political leader Arvind Kejriwal created by Media and foolish people like me. Thanks to the influence of Anna and those 'I am ANNA Campaign'.

However not denying they don't have any valid points.

This demonetisation causing bit problem to all including me too but i know by getting small pain at present i will get good result in future for sure, it will reduce a gap between poor and rich at least for some extent.A poor guys can get his own site, own house in average but for real rate not like present sky reaching artificial hyped ( Hyped by non other than real estator's) rate.

The decision to discontinue Rs 1000 and Rs 500 banknotes as legal tender from November 9 has led to common man waiting in long queues for new currency across various banks in the country.

BJP leaders are hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his decisive leadership in tackling black money. They are also implicitly saying that anyone criticising the decision has been at the receiving end for hoarding black money.

The question to ask is whether this move to demonetise will actually have any impact on black money or is it just aimed at shifting attention from other pressing issues facing the country.

But it should be done in proper way to avoid inconvenience to public.

They should have not inform with in BJP and industrialist about this.

Also they should not write of Mallya loan.
