Shah Rukh Khan Bollywood's Top Tax-payer

NDTV

Mumbai, Jan 11 (mb): It's raining money in Bollywood and it's not just how much the top actors in the industry are earning, it's also about how much tax they are paying.

Sources say, Shah Rukh Khan has set a record of sorts by paying an advance tax of a whopping Rs 27 crore in December 2007. It is Rs nine crores more than what he paid last year. And the figure is bound to shoot up once he files his returns for the first quarter of 2008.

Actor Akshay Kumar, who has given four hits in a row this year, is in second place, his advance tax returns amount to Rs seven crore.

The Bachchans are in third, fourth and fifth place. While the Big B has filed returns of Rs 1.8 crore, son Abhishek has submitted 3.7 crore, while Aishwarya's advance tax returns total Rs 1.6 crore.

Himesh Reshammiya has been singing all the way to the bank and he has also paid a whopping Rs 2.5 crore as advance tax. Spinning sweet dreams on the silver screen is one thing. Payback time's not as sweet.
