Panaji, Jan 11: Goa governor S C Jamir on Thursday said that the state was working towards the goal of having 100 per cent enrolment and retention of girl students in the school.
"To ensure 100 per cent enrollment and retention of girl students in the school, various incentives and schemes are being implemented," Governor said in his address to the Goa legislative assembly this afternoon.
The state legislative assembly session which began on Thursday will culminate on January 18.

"In order to improve the quality in education, all the schools have been brought into close linkage by establishing network with neighbouring schools for sharing human and resource among them," he said.
The governor said that the mid day meal programme is being successfully implemented to provide nutrition to the primary school children and increase enrolment and retention in the schools.
He said that Goa being adjudged as one of the best states on the educational front at the national level and this success have to be attributed to various unique schemes implemented by the state government.

"The high percentage of literacy and quality in education has been achieved through an effective universalization of elementary education among the children of the state," the governor said.
On higher education front, he said that the memorandum of understanding between Goa government and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay has been further extended by five years for conduct of Goa common entrance test.
Lauding the IT based infrastructure development in the state, Jamir said that the state have taken up various prestigious projects like e-governance, Goa broadband network, state data centre and single official portal to bring technology to the doorsteps of citizens of Goa.
"As of date, Goa is quite ahead in development of IT infrastructure as compared to other states of India with its super high bandwidth connectivity connecting all talukas with 10 Gbps connectivity," Jamir said.
He further said, "with this initiative the government will be able to communicate with all talukas by using video conferencing facilities installed at mamlatdar office in every taluka which will definitely save lot of time, fuel and traffic congestion and in turn increase the productivity and efficiency of the officials to deliver better services to the citizens of Goa.
